Looking for a no-frills kettle that doesn't break the bank? Read our review of the Verve model by Morphy Richards.
Not everyone wants an eye-catching kettle. Some people just want one that sits unobtrusively on the worktop, boiling water efficiently when required. Morphy Richards’ Verve kettle is no-nonsense and effective. It’s quiet, efficient and well-priced. It’s a solid-feeling kettle with a chunky, robust handle and 'on' switch.

The kettle is attractive enough, with a textured surface and a black and silver combination. There’s a wide spout for a smooth pour and quick filling if you don’t want to remove the lid. There’s also an easy-to-pull-off lid at the top with a closed loop handle to hook your finger through. The kettle has a removable limescale filter for easy cleaning.
The Verve is averagely speedy, coming in at around 2 minutes 23 seconds for a litre, and isn’t one of the noisier models either. Holding 1.7 litres of water, it’s ideal for a bigger family, there’s also a matching toaster available.
One other advantage of the kettle is that it’s lighter than many of its rivals, which could be something to take into account if buying for someone elderly.
