It's equipped with a wide range of attachments, including an attachment for mashing potatoes, but how did this Gastroback hand blender perform?
Available from Gastroback (£104.90)
The Gastroback Pro Advanced hand blender is as close as you can get to a professional blender. It has a powerful 800W motor that flies through even the hardest of vegetables and it was a wizard with frozen berries. The design is meticulous, from the ergonomic Soft-Touch motor housing with its clear, bright LED light signalling it is on, to the five variable speeds and the range of attachments and accessories. This is a serious machine.
Using the Gastroback is easy. We found assembling the hand blender intuitive; the stainless-steel blade clicking firmly to the motor made it feel safe and solid. We especially liked the soft touch feel and the easily adjusted speed settings on the top of the handle. We struggled with the attachments, though, as the instruction book is thorough around the safety of the blender, but the descriptions of the various housings were unclear.
With its robust four-fold titanium-coated blade, the Gastroback is a powerhouse when it comes to blending and puréeing. It whipped up mayonnaise in record time, even before we could count to ten as suggested in the recipe. The blade sat comfortably in the beaker, and we found it smooth, fast, and quiet. The result was a deliciously unctuous, light mayo. The frozen berries were no match for this blender, either. The smoothie was ready in a flash, with a soft, creamy texture.
While the Gastroback may not be the most budget-friendly option, its sturdy build, thoughtful ergonomic design, and impressive performance make it a worthwhile investment. With a range of practical accessories, you should not overlook this blender if you have the budget and a need for its capabilities.
